Letter from the Principal

Welcome to Immaculate Conception School!

“For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.”
-Ecclesiastes 3:1

It is definitely quiet here in the school as we enter the month of June. However, even with the lack of students and most of our staff, there is still so much happening here at the school. The summer cleaning crew descended upon our building while teachers were still finishing up grades, clearing out desks, taking down bulletin boards, etc. Besides general cleaning, they are also beginning to wax our floors and clean carpets. Our tech guy is busily working on closing down computers, smart boards, tablets, etc., while also checking inventory for the fall. Office staff is busy trying to close down the 25-26 school year, while also preparing for the 26-27 school year.

Our preschool is already full for the fall. We have registered another large kindergarten class; our middle school has close to 70 students registered for the fall, which is another large group for our junior high. Great things are definitely happening here at ICS, and we are all so proud of that.

Our second graders will be coming in for a retreat and Eucharist prep day in June, and our seventh graders are beginning their Confirmation prep this summer, as they will be receiving that Sacrament in October--all continuing their education, but in a different setting. While our teachers are not here in the building, they continue to work--reviewing the past year, determining what worked, what didn’t work, planning for the next year, reading the latest on Catholic education, working on their own classes (professional development for educators never ends).

And, amidst all of this, we are all hopefully doing our best to keep the most important thing in the center of our lives: Jesus Christ. As I have said many times, Masses do not take a break in the summer; Jesus does not take a break in the summer. We need to continue to keep Jesus at the forefront of our lives and work towards our own seat in the kingdom.

Immaculate Mary, pray for us!
