Happy Thursday!

It is great to be back in school for a full week. Our grade school students celebrated Mass as a Family for the second time this week. We practiced fire drills and started each day with Morning Announcements in the gymnasium. It is a blessing to be all together again.

Thank you to all who came out to enjoy our Festival this past weekend. In addition to supporting our School Endowment with the Chicken Dinner, the Knights of Columbus with Bingo, and our entire parish with the raffles, markets, etc., it was also great to spend time with each other.

Please watch your child's folders for scholarship paperwork coming home today. All families need to sign off on that; please send your paperwork back to the school as soon as possible. If you do not find one in your child's papers, it is possible that you already turned yours in.

Dr. Saunders is looking for students in grades 2-8 to join our Young Voices. This group sings at school Masses. Rehearsals are after school on Tuesday. Please see the attached flyer for more information.

School picture day is coming up on September 11. This will be a day that students are not required to wear uniforms. This is NOT a dress-down day, nor is it a jeans day. Students should wear dress pants and shirts (wearing a dress or skirt for our girls is just fine!). Lifetouch is offering 50% off all packages--please take advantage of that. The information for Picture Day will be sent home on Tuesday.

Just a quick reminder about physical education clothing. Students in grades K-4 are permitted to wear the ICS gym uniform on physical education days. The gym uniform is the navy blue "basketball-type" shorts, the gray shirt (with the fleur de lis on it), the blue warm-up pants, and the blue warm-up jacket/pullover. The gym uniform items can be purchased at JJ Custom Apparel in Bellevue.

We have a full-time maintenance assistant opening at our parish. This person helps the Maintenance Lead maintain the buildings and properties of the parish, ensuring that all indoor and outdoor facilities and grounds are safe, clean, neat, and appealing. This person will help the Maintenance Lead perform routine electrical, plumbing, and remodeling projects/repairs, general custodial work for all buildings, in addition to landscaping care, requiring the operation of heavy equipment like mowers and hydraulic lifts at times. Interested persons should send a cover letter with a detailed resume and professional references to pastor@icssaints.org.

Each year, our teachers are required to teach VIRTUS lessons. This requirement comes from the Diocese of Toledo. VIRTUS is a program of lessons about keeping children safe. This year, the focus is on being a safe friend and on recognizing boundaries. We cover this material in a comforting, Christ-centered manner. Please know that nothing explicit is discussed, but oftentimes students will come home with more questions as they reconsider these discussions in their minds. If you do not want your child to remain in the classroom when these lessons occur, please reach out to me by Friday, September 5.

Hot lunch is available daily in our cafeteria. The lunch menu for next week is burrito bowl on Tuesday, pancakes on Wednesday, corn dog on Thursday, and pizza cupcake on Friday. September lunch menu

NEWS WORTH REPEATING

Please be sure to go into Option C to check your balance and do your best to keep the total below $50 at all times. You are welcome to send a check or cash to the school in an envelope labeled with your child's name and Option C.
