Weekly School Update 8/15/2025

Happy Friday!
For our families who are familiar with our weekly updates, this is a day late. Beginning next week, this will be sent out on Thursday evenings at approximately 7 pm.
The staff has been in all week, getting everything ready for the best school year yet! We have new (to us) staff joining us this year. Mrs. Teresa Bogner is returning to ICS to teach third grade. Mrs. Bogner taught here previously (two different times!), and then spent the last several years at Norwalk Catholic School. She retired a year ago, but has decided to return to the classroom. Erica Allen will be with our kindergarten Saints this fall. Erica is an ICS grad; her four children have gone to ICS (Joshua and Rachel are still here). Finally, our Title I position has been filled with Shaylee Butz. Shaylee has been teaching at Bellevue Elementary and has now decided to join the Saint Family. Many will recognize Mrs. Butz, as she has been a part of the Saint Family for years, supporting us (and working!) at the Annual Reverse Raffle. Mrs. Sarah Miller (mom of current Saint Mira) is joining us as our preschool aide. Finally, Mr. Abu is our new head of maintenance and custodial. He has been working very hard this summer to get everything ready for our return. We are so blessed to have these wonderful people joining our Saint Family.
On Tuesday, August 19, we will be celebrating Mass at 5:30. Mass will begin with a Backpack Blessing. As you enter the church for Mass on Tuesday, please take your backpack to the front of the church and place it beside the Communion rail. Father will be blessing the backpacks (and our new Bibles for our youngest Saints!) at the beginning of Mass. Once Mass has concluded, please pick up your backpack and head over to the school for Supply Drop-Off. There will be carts and tables in the main hallway for you to leave your tissues, wipes, and paper towels. If you are not able to come on Tuesday evening, do not panic; simply have your child bring supplies on the first day.
Our uniform closet is so full. Please come in and check out all of the free clothes that are available to you! A shout-out to Gabby Hartshorn, who came in this summer (along with Maxwell) and organized the closet. As you start going through clothes and donating things to the closet, please remember that our closet is stocked only with uniform clothes. Other clothes that you have to donate should be taken to Goodwill or to the clothing bins around town. Thank you for your help with that.
We are looking for volunteers for the Parish Festival. In addition to our Annual Chicken Dinner, there are lots of great additions to this year's Festival. Please check out the attached flyer and reach out to Heidi Lambert if you are able to volunteer some time.
Hot lunch is available daily in our cafeteria. The lunch menu for next week is hot dogs on Thursday and macaroni and cheese on Friday. August lunch menu
NEWS WORTH REPEATING
Breakfast is available daily for all of our students from 7:00-7:30 am for $1, which includes milk.
Please be sure to go into Option C to check your balance and do your best to keep the total below $50 at all times. You are welcome to send a check or cash to the school in an envelope labeled with your child's name and Option C.
