Weekly School Update 10/1/2026
Happy Thursday!
What an incredible day at the Shrine yesterday for our kindergarteners through eighth graders! They painted blessing rocks (thank you to Perry's Plantation for donating the rocks for this project), wrote letters to our seminarian, listened to a talk on vocations and discernment, took a Rosary Vocations Walk led by Father Al, and enjoyed ice cream! It was a busy day!
Parent-teacher conferences are almost here. We have set aside next Wednesday, October 7, 3pm-8pm and Thursday, October 8, 8am-2pm, for parents to meet with teachers. Please log into your Option C account to schedule a time. If there is not a time available that will work for you, please reach out to the individual teacher to make other arrangements. Parents of junior high students should schedule a time with homeroom teachers; if you would like to meet with other teachers, feel free to reach out to those teachers as well. All parents are also welcome to schedule a time with the special teachers if you would like--this would include Art, Intervention, Music, and Physical Education. Please email those teachers if you would like to meet with them. Please remember that due to Conferences, there is no school for students on Thursday, October 8, and Friday, October 9.
The end of September brought with it the end of short season as well. Students are now required to wear long pants. Girls are still permitted to wear a skirt or jumper.
Tomorrow is First Friday, so we will be celebrating Mass in the morning. Students are not permitted to dress down on Mass days.
Our Annual Calendar Basket Raffle will again take place in February. I am looking for parents to organize classroom baskets. If you are willing to do so, please send me an email. If you and/or your business is willing to donate to the raffle in other ways (including organizing an entire basket!), please reach out to me. Students will begin to sell the tickets in late November.
Hot lunch is available daily in our cafeteria. The lunch menu for next week is chicken tenders on Monday, taco on Tuesday, and French toast on Wednesday. October lunch menu
See you at Mass this weekend!
NEWS WORTH REPEATING
Families are invited to come to First Friday Devotions on the first Friday of every month for a Holy Hour that includes Eucharistic Adoration, Evening Prayer, and Benediction. The next First Friday Devotions is tomorrow, Friday, October 2, from 5:30-6:30 pm.
Breakfast is available daily for all of our students from 7:00-7:30 am for $1, which includes milk.
As we are now several weeks into school, please remember that parking in the main lot at drop-off time is not an option. By now, parents should be able to pull up to the playground sidewalk, and kids should be able to get out and walk in alone. If your child needs more time getting out, you will need to park across the street in the parking lot next to the pavilion.
With regard to after-school transportation...if there are changes in the regular way that your child will be going home, and you are aware of that before sending your child to school, please send a note in your child's folder and tell your child to give it to the teacher. Teachers will then hang that note by the door to serve as a reminder. If transportation changes need to be made during the school day, please call the school office before 2 pm to make that change. Calling later than that makes it difficult to get the child where you need them to be.
Just as a reminder, students are allowed to dress down on their birthday. However, if that birthday falls on a Mass day, students are NOT allowed to dress down for the day (they are permitted to change into casual clothes after Mass OR just wear casual birthday clothes on a different day).
Please be sure to go into Option C to check your balance and do your best to keep the total below $50 at all times. You are welcome to send a check or cash into the school in an envelope labeled with your child's name and Option C.
