Happy Thursday!

For our parents who pick up their students after school, we have had to make a change regarding that procedure.  The Bellevue buses that come to pick up our students on Broad Street at the end of the day DO NOT activate the stop sign that prohibits cars from going around the buses (they are not permitted to do so, as this is a loading and unloading zone, similar to any other school).  Because of this, cars just go around the buses.  Our students (and parents) walk across the street, with many people under the false assumption that there will be no cars (as that is what usually happens when a bus is stopped, and it is a crosswalk).  This week, I was witness to one of our students almost being hit by a car that had come around the buses waiting on Broad Street.  This time of day has always made me a bit anxious, but after seeing this, I am even more concerned.  It was then followed up by several staff members (and a couple of parents) saying that it happens quite often.  Please also realize that in years past, the Bellevue buses had been gone before our car and walker dismissal at 2:20.  However, due to the ongoing construction in Bellevue, they are now often not gone until past the 2:20 mark, which is why this is coming up now.

Any student who needs to cross the street to the parking lots on Broad Street will need to wait until the Bellevue City buses have pulled away.  This is usually only a couple of minutes, but for the safety of all, this is a necessity.  We will also now have a staff member out there at the crosswalk helping with the crossers.  Also, all students who need to cross will need to go to the crosswalk to do so.  We will no longer be having students crossing behind the buses either.  I appreciate your understanding, as the safety of our students and our families is of utmost importance to me and our staff, as I am sure it is for all of you.

Tomorrow is our Annual Halloween Celebration.  All students are invited to wear their costumes to school and remain in them for the entire day. Some things to remember with regard to costumes.

  • Costumes must be school-appropriate.

  • Students must be able to sit, walk, breathe, see, and hear.

  • Students should also be able to go to the restroom on their own.

  • No weapons of any sort, including, but not limited to, swords, guns, knives, light sabers, etc.

  • Students will be walking around.  Be sure that it is possible in the chosen costume.

  • No sandals, no tank tops, no sleeveless shirts, etc.

  • Please remember that we are a Catholic school with students as young as three years old. If you are at all in doubt whether it is appropriate for school, please choose a different costume.

As of today, AccuWeather is predicting that at the time of our parade tomorrow, the temperature will be between 36 and 42 degrees, with the real feel between 23 and 31 degrees.  Please consider this, also, as kids will need layers for the outdoor portion of the day!

Hot lunch is available daily in our cafeteria.  The lunch menu for next week is chicken sandwich on Monday, tacos on Tuesday, breakfast bagel on Wednesday, mini corn dogs on Thursday, and macaroni and cheese on Friday.   November lunch menu
